  Tell A Friend!

Yesterday Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that every month that a stimulus package is not enacted is a month in which 500 million Americans will lose their jobs.  As soon as I heard Pelosi’s remarks last night while watching FOX News I was astonished that she could have said such a thing, and even more astonished that no one on FOX even pointed out that there are not even that many Americans.  Perhaps FOX was just being polite, fearing that they would look like they were beating up on the village idiot for pointing out that there are not even that many Americans, but would the liberal press have been so kind had President Bush made such a ridiculous and uninformed statement?  Of course not!  Liberals are the biggest hypocrites on the planet, and double standards are a way of life.  How else could one explain that Democrats want to raise taxes and Democrats don’t pay taxes?  I suspect that the reason President Obama has three Republicans in his Cabinet is because he ran out of qualified Democrats who actually pay taxes.  Obama really had a great vetting team, didn’t he?

For those who are having trouble believing that Speaker Pelosi could be so stupid just play the YouTube clip below and listen to what she says.

According to the US Census Bureau there just under 306 million Americans total, so that means that about 116 million people will lose their jobs a week as we wait for the stimulus package to sweep in and save the day.  While getting straight employment numbers from the federal government is virtually impossible, it seems that there are about 140 to 144 million Americans employed.  So that would mean that within 9 days all Americans will be unemployed unless stimulus happens immediately.  That is probably why President Obama demanded Congress send him a stimulus package to sign no later than February 16, 2009, but by then all American jobs would be lost using Pelosi’s estimates.  Talk about fear mongering!

It is no doubt an enormous coincidence that the math of Nancy Pelosi’s ridiculous statement works out such that every American will be unemployed by the close of business on Friday, February 13, 2009, and the next working business day is the deadline President Obama gave Congress.  But anyone that thinks that this stimulus package is going to sweep in and save the day is just plain delusional.  In recent history, dating back all the way to September 2008, there is no proof that enormous stimulus packages work.  On top of that we are hearing the same fear mongering regarding the collapse of the economy we heard in the Fall of 2008, this time from a Democrat President and a Democrat Congress.  The earth didn’t stop in the Fall of 2008, and the stimulus package didn’t work.  Americans are not stupid, which is why now more oppose stimulus than support it.

In any event, the only two major newspapers that I see that even mentioned this Pelosi “slip” were the NY Post and believe it or not, the LA Times Blog.  Kudos to those at the NY Post and LA Times for taking the Speaker to task.  Shame on the rest of the media who just ignored what would have been a major story for weeks, months and maybe years if a Republican had uttered such nonsense.
