  Tell A Friend!

The stimulus spending package that is working its way through Congress is just another in a long line of attempts to ruin the future of our country.  To call this bill a stimulus package is completely misleading given that the benefits from the package won’t be felt for at least 12 to 18 months at a minimum, and all the so-called experts suggest that by then the recession will be over.  So what we are about to do as a nation is more than double down on the hundreds of billions of dollars spent by the 110th Democraticly controlled Congress and signed into law by President Bush.  This $1 trillion spending bill won’t stimulate the economy and it will burden us all into the foreseeable future.  The only reason most of these so-called stimulus items are on the table is because the Democrats finally control both houses of Congress and the White House, and they can do whatever they want.  We should not let them simply sweep a decade of bad ideas and wasteful spending into a single bill because we are desparate to get the economy turned around.  Have we learned nothing from Japan, FDR and others who have tried to spend their way out of a recession?  It simply won’t work.

Luckily, Senate Republicans are not taking this issue lying down.  Today, they launched their first TV ad targeting Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid’s support of last year’s $700 billion bailout bill, as well as his call this year for a massive new bill that could total one trillion dollars in new spending.

It is also lucky for us that most Americans do not share the Democrats view of what needs to be done to move the country forward.  I am getting sick and tired of listening to Democratic pundits talk about the people of America electing Barack Obama because they wanted him to implement his promises.  That is simply not true.  Barack Obama was elected because his name was not George Bush.  Had his name been Barack Hussein Bush, he would have been defeated.  The simple truth is that when you look at the top promises made by Barack Obama the American people just do not support what he wants to do.  It is sad that he was elected when a majority of Americans do not support his agenda.

The facts according to Rasmussen Reports (see Tax Cuts Better and Too Much Spending)

  • 53% say that it’s better to cut taxes, while only 24% say it is better to increase spending
  • 38% of Democrats say it is better to cut taxes, 34% say it is better to increase spending
  • 57% of of voters say tax cuts are good for the economy, 17% disagree
  • 59% fear the US Government will spend to much, 17% fear Congress will cut taxes
