This weekend while campaigning in Ohio Barack Obama was caught on tape fielding a question from a hard working plumber who is justifiably concerned that his taxes will go up if Obama is elected president. Here is the exchange, as reported by FOX News:
PLUMBER: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” He then went on to complain that he will be taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”
OBAMA: “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too. My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
There is no longer any way to avoid the reality, which is that Barack Obama is a socialist and wants to move America in a hard-left direction that would take us on a path that that has as its final destination a truly socialistic form of government. This is unacceptable, anathema to what the United States represents and a stark repudiation of over 200 years of successful democratic government. I can only imagine that George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and the other founding fathers of our great country are rolling over in their graves!
Lets take a look at the definition of socialism, shall we? According to the American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy the term is defined as: “An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity.” According to the Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary the term socialism is defined as: “A theory or system of social reform which contemplates a complete reconstruction of society, with a more just and equitable distribution of property and labor.” Is there any doubt that Barack Obama is putting forth socialist position? Can you imagine what President Obama and a Democrat Congress lead by Speaker Nancy Pelosi would do to our economy? I for one choose not to live in San Francisco, California for a reason!
Redistribution of the wealth is a great idea in principle. There is something so appealing about the Robin Hood tales, but I would prefer the Robin Hoods of our society be captains of industry like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who want to redistribute their own wealth for the greater good. Having elected officials play the part of Robin Hood does nothing but kill the American dream, and that is just plain stupid! Where is the incentive to succeed when the government will just take from those who have worked to get to a better place and give it to those who lack ambition and who are not willing to sacrifice? I can understand no tax liability for those at the bottom of the pyramid, but if you want to redistribute the wealth shouldn’t the threshold be a lot higher than $250,000?
Personally I think $250,000 per year is a bizarre definition of rich. Back in 1995 after I graduated law school and racked up well over $100,000 in student loan debt I obtained a position making $30K a year. Since then my income has risen, rather dramatically over the last several years because I started my own small business. Through hard work, long hours, self sacrifice and a lot of choices that made my life more difficult in the short term I am approaching the Obama rich threshold, but I still have a ton of student loan debt, my wife has a ton of student loan debt, I have two car payments, a house that is worth half of what my mortgage is for, I lost $70,000 selling my home in Syracuse when I had to relocate for business, and now business is contracting. I am not asking for anyone to feel sorry for me, I am doing well enough and I am optimistic about the future. But as the son of a man who worked 7 days a week in a factory I worked my way up from practically nothing. What bothers me greatly is that my hard work and self sacrifice may soon put me in a position where the government will disproportionately take from me to give to those who choose not to pursue the same path I did. Barack Obama will start a class-war in the US and will discourage people like me from spending long hours to pursue the American dream. Why risk succeeding when your success is taken from you? I feel exactly what this plumber in Ohio feels, and what I suspect most small business owners feel. The American dream seems to be giving way to class warfare on an unprecedented level.
On top of all this, if you vote for Obama you are going to be pushing back your retirement date by many years. Yesterday Obama introduced a plan that would encourage people to take money out of their 401K plans by suspending tax penalties. That is just cruel and inexcusable. If he does this there will be plenty of people who will raid their 401K plans. They will be selling at the bottom of the market and kissing their retirement savings good-bye. The selling that will ensue will push the stock market ever lower and continue to compound the problem. Then when the stock market rises, which is inevitably will, those who have cashed out at the bottom will be the real long term losers. Talk about policies to ensure that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! But that is unfortunately nothing new for Democratic politicians. It seems that they enjoy policies that ensure that the poor stay poor and keep voting against their own long term interest by accepting handouts from paternalistic Democrats!
The last president to raise taxes and increase spending during a recession was Hoover, and the Great Depression would suggest to all who know history that this plan didn’t work out very well then, so why would anyone suspect it would work out better now? America beware those peddling socialism. It is not what has made America strong and it is not what will lead us through these tough economic times.

Hey, Gene,
This is a great blog! Keep on publishing, and I’d love to hear the real facts you dig up as you find them…I know I won’t find them almost anywhere else on the Liberal Allied media outlets.
I’d love to hear a report showing that the media is absolutely and egregiously ignoring facts and news for the sake of Obama…let’s get that word out!
Best Regards,
Dave

Dave-
That is exactly why I started BlatantlyTrue.com. I got to the point where I became disgusted with what I was hearing, at least form everyone except FOX. I almost hate to admit it, but I used to watch MSNBC. I have always known it to be liberal, but what has happened this election cycle is ridiculous. It seems to me that the media has lost their way. I never thought I would see a day where there was a “mainstream” media outlet that was more left than CNN. That was when I knew I just had to do whatever I could to try and expose some truth.
Thanks for reading the blog.
