  Tell A Friend!

One can hardly watch any allegedly news-based TV shows or read any major newspapers or magazines without having person after person talk about how John McCain is lying about Obama’s record and what he says.  Do these folks actually think that if they keep saying that John McCain is lying that it will somehow become miraculously true?  Just because you say it over and over again doesn’t make it true, and it doesn’t mean that Americans will believe it, or at least I hope not.  It would be extremely disappointing if the liberal media were able to convince voters that John McCain is lying about Obama, because he is not lying at all.  You merely need to do just a little bit of independent research to verify that McCain is telling the truth, and as hard as it is to believe Barack Obama did support a bill that would have made it mandatory to teach Kindergartner’s sex education including how sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are contracted.  Thanks, but no thanks, anyone who believes that or supported that is not fit for public office.

It may be hard to believe, but I do have friends and relatives that are Democrats, perhaps even liberal Democrats.  One even told me earlier today that all I have to do is take to the Internet and see that what McCain is saying about Obama is all lies.  Unlike those who would turn only to the liberal media for information, I actually do my own research and make my own decisions.  Let me tell you the truth about what some basic research will tell you about Barack Obama and his plan for sexual education for Kindergartners.

Thankfully the sex education bill that Obama supported did not get enacted into law in Illinois, but here is what it would have required:

Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV.

Now I don’t expect you to believe me and what I just wrote.  Go right ahead and verify it for yourself.  The link above will take you right to the website of the Illinois General Assembly, which should be as reliable a source as  you are going to find on this particular topic of what the Illinois bill actually contained, and as you can see if there were to be any sex education offered to Kindergartners then it was required by law to include instruction of STDs, including prevention and transmission.  You see, that is what the words “shall include” require.  There is no debate.  There is no room for guessing what the bill Obama supported would require, just read the actual text of the bill.  So Obama supporters and apologists say what  you will, but the truth is that your guy wanted inappropriate things taught to our youngest and most vulnerable.

So what do you suppose the NY Times had to say about this?  Of course, they said McCain was lying, even though we now all know that isn’t true.  Here is what an Editorial said in the NY Times:

The kindergarten ad flat-out lies: telling voters that Mr. Obama’s “one accomplishment” in education was to favor “comprehensive” sex education for 5-year-olds. “Learning about sex before learning to read?” intones the voice-over, as a blur of respected sources are cited — none of them accurately, as they have proclaimed.

The truth is that as an Illinois legislator, Mr. Obama favored a sensible bill supported by many mainline organizations — including the Illinois Parent Teacher Association, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Illinois Public Health Association — to provide an “age and developmentally appropriate” sex education curriculum for older students. At most, kindergarteners were to be taught the dangers of sexual predators. And parents of children of all ages had the right to withdraw their children from the classes.

Believe what you want, but the truth is that if Kindergartners were going to be taught about inappropriate touching, something that does make sense, then they would also have to be taught about STDs. In my opinion there is absolutely nothing “age appropriate,” or appropriate period, about teaching those in Kindergarten about STDs.
